BALL STATE UNIVERSITY
CS 120: Computer Science 1
All-section Art Show
Sponsored by the Department of Computer Science

Our Computer Science 1 (CS 120) course takes a “Multimedia-First” approach. Students from each semester’s course display their work on combining images in an art show held in BSU's AJ Atrium. The work displayed was selected by the students in their course section as one of the best in their section.

The students displayed both the images they produced and the code they wrote (using the Python programming language). Although the images could have been created using an image-editing program, these students have written the code themselves to create these collages programmatically by manipulating individual pixels.

The Department of Computer Science has sponsored this event since the Fall 2013 semester. The students enjoy participating since the project gives them an opportunity to be creative, and show the public and their peers what they can do with only a few weeks’ experience programming.

The links below will take you to the web page created for each semester's show and allow you to see the entrants, as well as those judged best at the show. Additional information is provided about each student as well. For more information, please contact David Largent, who has organized the event since its inception.

The show has been covered by the media. Example video and articles include:

November 4, 2016 : BSU’s The Daily News
