Johnny Asterisk: Heart of the Ampersand

Johnny Asterisk is a brave young symbol who lives in the Realm of Punctuation, a lofty world separate from our own. As an asterisk, he is destined for a life waiting to be chosen for a place in the Land of Moving Text. When the time comes, a Keystroke will bring him from the Realm of Punctuation to put him in his destined home. That is the fate of all punctuation, and most will try to lead a good life so that they are placed into a Famous Text and can live as a punctuation celebrity. Alas, Johnny is rather unfortunate. As an Asterisk, he might wait his whole life to be placed in a text. The other punctuation would look down on him (especially those jerks from the Comma Clan, and those dumb gargantuan Question Marks). But Johnny hasn’t been one to wait; since he was just an ink blot his dream was to venture into the Land of Moving Text and find his own spot in the Valley of Footnotes. He has the heart of the ampersand, that most heroic of Symbols, and will venture out into the Land of Moving Text, facing the dangers of falling in White Space, being attacked by Quotations, or even the evil Backspace. And he mustn’t forget the other punctuation marks in the outside world. They don’t always take kindly to plucky little asterisks with big pixels…

So be careful young asterisk! The Land of Moving Text is not meant to be traversed! Letters may crumble under your weight, stems may fall like trees, and jealous punctuation marks may set traps for you as well! Do not always trust the world around you; punctuation may appear in places they don’t belong, letters are not always as they same. Expect the world of text around you to come alive! But you will have aid, watch for help along the way: orbs of mystical powers sent down from the Grammar Gods, who shine down on your efforts. Run, jump, and fight your way to Textual Immortality!
