CS637
Week by Week Activity List
- Read about ICMP and Routing.
- We will do a collaborative exploration of the
Internets routers using ICMP.
- Post your results for others to work with in the discussion forum.
- This week we will review the questions, answers, and other results
from our mid-term evaluations.
- We will also begin looking at the network layer by discussing IPv4, IPv6,
IPX, and NBF.
- One of the results of the evaluation process is that I will be placing less
reading material of my own for you to look at on-line.
- Another result of the evalution process is that I will be placing more
interactive matrial of my own for you to work with on-line.
- This week we will not adding reading material, but will have you doing some
excersizes to see how well we all understand what I've been "talking"
about. There are two parts, each involving some real data gathered. I'm asking
you to analyze the data, apply the analysis to a problem and draw a few
conclusions.
- The Hypernews discussion software is up and running now.
- We will make up some lost time by skipping several items listed in the
syllabus.
- This week our main "lecture" topics will be
encapsulation and Ethernet.
We will seek to make up some lost ground and get interactive systems up. We
will also be doing some reading of materials from on-line doucments available on
the web to suppliment textbook reading.
The second week of class should contain all normal activities for the
routine week of the course.
However, it did not quite reach this goal, no interactive systems were up
and only a portion of the lecture material was available on-line
The first week of class will consist mostly of getting acquainted with the
learning environment and a discussion of the methods and goals of the class.
Course material will be presented at full speed in the second week of class.
Hence, if you are enrolled in CS637, please proceed through the above link
to the weekly activity page.
