Thematic Units

Some ESTE activities engage the children in a long-term study, usually serving as the integrating element for an interdisciplinary study. We call these activities Thematic Units. Often the theme is all encompassing, taking much of a semester or even much of the school year. Sometimes they involve more than one class. Hallmarks of thematic units are integration, collaboration, and conceptual understandings. The links on this page document a variety of thematic units.
