K'Nex lesson

Objective:

To make sure students know that moving air can be used to run machines and that some energy sources cost less than others and some cause less pollution than others.  These objectives come from the science standards under section: 6.3, Energy Sources and Use.

Procedure:

The students will use the K'Nex to develop a structure that could be powered by wind to run a machine.  The most obvious structure that the students could make would be a windmill.  Any other creative response would be accepted.

Evaluation:

Consists of several things

1. the creativeness of the structure built
2. what machine the structure could power and the use of that machine
3. the presentation of the overall project to the rest of the class.

The students would be expected to talk about how their structure meets the objectives stated earlier.
