Information for Students

For Spring 2010 I'm teaching MATHS 267 (Vector Calculus). I like visitors. Please feel free to drop by at your convenience, though you should probably call first to make sure I'm in the office. After our Wednesday sessions we might feel like this:

Scholarship

In years past I've worked in Lie group representation theory, operator theory, and probabilistic number theory. Recently I've become interested in the Radon transform and Latin squares. Here are some recent publications/preprints.

I’m co-authoring a math content book for pre-service secondary teachers that will appear in the textbook series for MAA. Front matter for the book may be viewed here.

Biographical Information

I was born in Los Angeles and raised in Colorado Springs. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and went on to receive my Ph.D. in mathematics under Dr. Lisa Mantini at Oklahoma State University. My first academic job after finishing OSU was at Wingate University, a small private liberal arts college near Charlotte, NC. After three years at Wingate I went in search of greener pastures and took a job at Ball State University, where I've been since 1998. While at OSU I met my wife Crystal, who is a half-time faculty member in the BSU Math Department. We have two children, Carolyn and Rob.

Aside from mathematics I like spending time with my family, reading classic novels and playing guitar for Broken Hill.
