S. Bagga MS’88 has been invited to serve on the 2004-5 Fulbright Senior
Scholar Peer Review Committee for African Research Scholars. Bagga was
awarded a Fulbright grant during 2000-1 to teach and work on research
projects at the University of Zimbabwe’s department of computer science. A
member of Ball State’s computer science faculty since 1989, Bagga was
named chair of the deparment from July 1, 2003. “I am pleased to have this
opportunity to continue involvement with the Fulbright program,” said
Bagga. In his new adminstrative role on campus, Bagga plans to introduce
several new initiatives. “One of my goals as department chair will be to
increase our interaction with all our graduates, particularly those who
came to Muncie as foreign students.” On August 25, history professor Ken
Hall will begin service as a Fulbright scholar at Gadja Mada University in
Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Two BSU graduates living in Indonesia have already
offered to meet Dr. Hall and assist in organizing alumni gatherings. They
are Bagus Hadi ‘87MURP’90MAR’91, and Andy Novianto MA’91.
